Job summary

Delaware North Australia at Melbourne Airport is hiring a casual Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen team. You will work alongside experienced chefs, preparing pizza and pasta and delivering high-quality dishes for travellers in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery, solid kitchen operations experience, and the ability to work a rotating roster including early mornings and dinner service.

Qualifications

• Previous Commis Chef experience, required.
• Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality pizza and pasta dishes.
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery.
• Solid background in kitchen operations.
• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labour costs.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including early mornings and dinner service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards.
• Execute food preparation tasks with a focus on presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.
• Conduct temperature and quality checks, manage cross-contamination to ensure WHS compliance.
