Job summary

Western Health in Melbourne’s western suburbs is seeking enthusiastic New Graduate Physiotherapists to join our team on a 12-month full-time fixed-term contract from January 2027 to January 2028. Grade 1 Physiotherapists will rotate across inpatient, outpatient and community settings across the Sunshine, Footscray, Williamstown and Melton campuses.

Rotations include ICU, Emergency Department Care Coordination, Orthopaedics, Surgery, General Medicine, Women’s Health, Paediatrics, and more, with

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality person centred interprofessional care in line with the “Best Care” framework.
• Plan, prepare, perform and deliver effective and individualised assessment and interventions, demonstrating clinical reasoning and core clinical competencies, including use of relevant assessment tools, treatment methods, and case management skills.
• Perform evidence based clinical services using a person-centred approach.
• Demonstrate organisational skills and efficient time management to appropriately evaluate, prioritise and complete workload.
• Attend and participate at relevant team/service meetings in relation to patient care.

• Employment Type: Full-Time (with monthly Accrued Day Off), Fixed Term (until January 2028)

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic New Graduate Physiotherapists to join our team as we provide Best Care to the Community of the West. 12-month full-time fixed term roles are available from January 2027 until January 2028.

Grade 1 Physiotherapists have opportunities for rotations across the continuum of care, through inpatients, outpatients and community settings across the Sunshine, Footscray, Williamstown, and Melton campuses. Rotations include, but not limited to ICU, Emergency Department Care Coordination, inpatient and outpatient Orthopaedics, Surgery, General Medicine, GEM, Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Aquatic Physiotherapy, Neurological Acute and Rehabilitation services, Community Based Rehabilitation, and Inpatient Rehabilitation.

In our rotation program, you will develop skills in clinical reasoning, evidence-based treatments and therapeutic patient handling; patient education; discharge planning; leadership; and much more. Grade 1’s are very well supported through formal and informal supervision, internal PD, training and education, and are strongly supported with their career development planning. At Western Health, Grade 1’s also have the exciting opportunity to contribute to Research and Quality Improvement Projects and committee portfolios.
