Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is seeking a Basic Physician Trainee for a full-time fixed-term role across NSW Health facilities. The role offers supervised medical training in inpatient and outpatient settings within the Network.

The trainee will rotate through medical departments, assume increasing responsibility, and work 38 hours per week under the NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Medical Officer Agreement 2024; a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Minimum two years of postgraduate experience by the start of the clinical year.
• Ability to work in a complex clinical environment and multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective medical services under supervision in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Rotations through medical departments with increasing autonomy.
• Document the progress of patients in multiple settings.
• Prescribe medications tailored to patients’ needs and conditions.
• Transfer care of patients between teams or departments.
• Choose, organise and interpret investigations.
• Assess and manage acutely unwell patients.
• Plan, prepare for, perform, and provide after care for important procedures.
