Job summary

Catholic Healthcare is seeking a Personal Care Assistant for St Catherine's Bathurst, NSW. Permanent part-time and casual shifts available. You will work under the supervision of nursing staff to provide safe, compassionate daily living support in a home-like aged care setting.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, and documentation. Eligibility includes Cert III/IV in Aged Care and availability for a rotating roster.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Aged Care (or willing to complete)
• Ability to work under direction within scope of practice
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of resident rights and person-centred care
• Commitment to WHS and continuous quality improvement
• Availability for rotating roster (AM/PM, nights and weekends)

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility and mealtime support
• Support residents' physical, emotional, social and cultural needs per care plans
• Foster respect, privacy and independence for residents
• Complete documentation and care records timely; collaborate with nurses and care staff
• Comply with policies, quality standards and WHS requirements

We’re currently seeking warm-hearted and reliable Personal Care Assistants to join our team at St Catherine's in Bathurst, where we provide a safe, supportive, and home-like environment for our residents.

About The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to provide safe, respectful, and individualised care to our residents. You will play a vital role in supporting residents’ daily living needs while promoting dignity, choice, independence, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility assistance and mealtime support
• Support residents’ physical, emotional, social and cultural needs in line with care plans
• Foster an environment of respect, inclusion, privacy and independence for residents
• Accurately complete documentation, charts and care records in a timely mannerWork collaboratively with nurses, care staff, allied health professionals and other team members
• Comply with organisational policies, aged care quality standards, WHS requirements and code of conduct

About You

You are a caring and reliable team player with a genuine commitment to supporting older people. You demonstrate empathy, professionalism and strong communication skills.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III or IV in Aged Care (or equivalent), or willingness to complete
• Ability to work under direction and within scope of practice
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of resident rights, dignity and person-centred care
• Commitment to workplace health and safety and quality improvement
• Availability to work across a rotating roster (AM, PM, nights and weekends as required)

Desirable

• Previous experience in residential aged care
• Dementia care experience
• Basic computer literacy for documentation systems
