Job summary

Mercy Health Australia in Warrnambool is seeking a Casual Personal Care Assistant to support residents with daily personal care, mobility, nutrition, and medication reminders under nurse guidance. You will maintain a clean, safe living environment, follow care plans, and uphold privacy and dignity.

Required is Certificate III/Cert IV in Aged Care or Individual Support, plus clearance such as police check or NDIS.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or Cert IV in Aged Care or equivalent.
• Evidence of recent police check or NDIS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
• Support mobility and transfers; assist with walking and use of mobility aids.
• Assist with feeding and monitor nutrition and hydration.
• Remind and support residents with prescribed medications under nurse guidance.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment and light housekeeping.
• Support activities promoting physical, emotional and cognitive well-being.
• Follow care plans and respect residents' privacy and dignity.
• Adhere to infection control procedures and PPE usage.

About the opportunity:

At Mercy Health, each moment, no matter how small, truly matters - and as a Personal Care Assistant, you'll make a genuine difference when it's needed the most by:

• Assist residents with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help with mobility, including transferring residents from bed to chair, assisting with walking, and using mobility aids safely.
• Support residents with feeding, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration, and assisting with special dietary needs.
• Assist with medication reminders and support residents in taking prescribed medications, under the guidance of a nurse.
• Help maintain a clean and safe living environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks, including making beds and cleaning rooms.
• Assist with organizing and engaging in activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
• Respond to residents' requests for assistance in a timely and professional manner.
• Follow care plans as outlined by registered nurses and healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of care are met.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect for residents' privacy, dignity, and personal preferences.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including infection control procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

To thrive in this role, you will have:

• A minimum Certificate III / Cert IV in Aged Care or Individual Support.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
