Job summary

NSW Health's Westmead Hospital seeks a Clinical Nurse Educator for the Operating Suite to lead, coordinate and evaluate perioperative education programs. You will work with Nurse Managers and Educators to strengthen workforce capability and ensure safe, high-quality perioperative care.

In this role you will design and deliver education activities, mentor nursing staff and drive practice development, quality improvement and evidence-based teaching in a dynamic operating suite environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated extensive clinical experience and post registration qualification in the relevant speciality and nursing professional development/education.
• Ability to lead and implement change within best-practice clinical care and workplace culture.
• Ability to design, implement and evaluate clinical education at the ward level and provide support to ensure a skilled nursing workforce.
• Strong communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills and the ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate and evaluate clinical education programs that strengthen workforce capability and support safe, high-quality perioperative care.
• Design, deliver and evaluate education programs, orientation, onboarding, mandatory training and professional development activities.
• Mentor and assess nursing staff to achieve and maintain clinical competence in accordance with professional and organisational requirements.
• Facilitate evidence-based teaching and learning opportunities within the clinical environment, including bedside education and coaching.
• Partner with nursing leadership to identify learning needs and implement innovative education strategies.
• Drive quality improvement, practice development and workforce initiatives while maintaining compliance with legislative, Ministry of Health and organisational requirements.
