The role will oversee strength and conditioning, training-load management, testing, recovery, injury prevention and return-to-play support. It will suit a collaborative practitioner who combines strong technical expertise with excellent leadership, communication and relationship‑building skills.

As the proud NRL affiliate of the Perth Bears, the Brisbane Tigers play an important role within an aligned high‑performance and player‑development pathway. The successful candidate will contribute to this relationship through collaboration, information sharing and the preparation of players seeking to progress to the NRL level.

  • Lead the planning and delivery of gym‑based and field‑based strength and conditioning sessions.
  • Develop individual physical performance programs based on each player’s position, development needs and performance goals.
  • Plan and manage the periodisation of training across the preseason and competition season.
  • Monitor player workloads, wellness, recovery and physical performance using appropriate testing and athlete‑management systems.
  • Analyse performance data and provide clear, practical reporting to the Head Coach and football staff.
  • Work closely with medical and physiotherapy staff to implement injury‑prevention and rehabilitation programs.
  • Support safe and effective return‑to‑training and return‑to‑play processes.
  • Lead recovery strategies covering hydration, nutrition, sleep and post‑training and match‑day recovery.
  • Ensure physical preparation is effectively integrated into the team’s weekly training and match preparation.
  • Educate players in physical preparation, recovery, injury prevention and professional performance habits.
  • Contribute to a high‑performance culture built on accountability, continuous improvement and player wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with relevant Brisbane Tigers pathway staff and Perth Bears high‑performance personnel where required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments, research and innovation in strength and conditioning and sports performance.
About you

You will be a knowledgeable and collaborative performance professional who understands the demands of preparing rugby league players for elite competition.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience delivering physical performance or strength and conditioning programs within rugby league or another high‑performance team‑sport environment.
  • A strong understanding of the physical demands of rugby league.
  • Demonstrated experience in program design, periodisation, player testing and workload management.
  • Experience using GPS, performance‑monitoring technology and athlete‑management systems.
  • A sound understanding of injury prevention, rehabilitation and return‑to‑play principles.
  • The ability to interpret performance data and turn it into practical coaching recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with coaches, medical practitioners and other members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A player‑centred approach that balances performance, development and wellbeing.
  • High professional standards, integrity and discretion.
  • Availability to attend scheduled training sessions, matches, meetings and other program commitments, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in exercise and sport science, strength and conditioning, human movement or a related discipline.
  • Current professional accreditation with ASCA, ESSA or an equivalent recognised body.
  • Current first aid and CPR qualifications.
  • A current Working with Children Check/Blue Card.
  • The ability to satisfy all QRL and NRL accreditation, registration and screening requirements, including a National Police Check.
