Job summary

BDO is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our finance team responsible for end-to-end payroll for 2,800+ employees across NSW, QLD, SA, VIC & WA. You will report to the Payroll Supervisor and collaborate with People & Culture and Finance to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

This role suits someone who is passionate about payroll, enjoys continuous improvement, and can work both independently and within a team.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in payroll within a medium to large organisation.
• Familiarity with payroll systems; Workday experience preferred but not essential.
• Understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements is beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Relevant qualifications in payroll, finance, or business administration advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Processing end-to-end fortnightly payroll, including data validation, approvals, and finalisation.
• Generating new hire records and maintaining employee records.
• Managing and reconciling termination payments in compliance with legislation and policies.
• Preparing and reviewing payroll calculations such as bonuses and backpays.
• Collaborating with People & Culture and Finance to ensure accuracy and resolve queries.
• Monitoring payroll inbox and responding to employee queries promptly.
