About The Role

A Pathology Collector plays an important role in a patient's healthcare journey. As a frontline representative of the organisation, you'll interact directly with patients to take blood samples, collect other pathology specimens and perform diagnostic tests. You'll help create a positive patient experience while ensuring all samples are collected and handled accurately in accordance with documented procedures and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and Holter monitoring as required
  • Maintain accurate patient records and registers of specimens collected
  • Prepare, pre-sort and package specimens ready for transport to laboratories
  • Manage patient communications and take payments where required
  • Maintain collection supplies and a safe, clean and professional environment
About You

Due to operational requirements, this position requires a completed Certificate III in Pathology Collection.

  • Previous experience as a Pathology Collector preferrable, or a Registered Nurse with demonstrated venepuncture experience
  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection (required)
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable building trust and rapport with patients
  • The ability to follow procedures, manage priorities and work independently

  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment
  • Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements, including Hepatitis B
  • Live within a 25km radius of the collection centre/location (45km for regional areas)

This role requires completion of a 6-week paid training program designed to build the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a Pathology Collector. Training is delivered internally by Healius as part of your onboarding and may be accelerated based on previous experience.
