Job summary

Narromine Public School, on Wiradjuri Country in NSW's Central West, invites a Teacher Librarian to join our inclusive, K–6 community. This 0.6FTE role focuses on strengthening literacy and research skills, supporting students with diverse needs, and collaborating with classroom teachers to deliver curriculum-aligned programs in a vibrant, technology-rich library.

Qualifications

• Approval to teach Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
• Ability to learn and effectively use a primary school library management system such as Oliver, including understanding budget processes, technology use, and the organisation of library resources.
• Capacity to creatively contribute to the management of a K–6 library as a flexible learning hub that supports whole-school programs, provides rich literary experiences, and assists students in accessing and using information across physical and digital platforms.
• Demonstrated organisation, resourcefulness, and the ability to maintain an engaging library environment and its resources, while staying informed about contemporary library practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a vibrant, inclusive, and well-resourced library that supports students across all stages with a technology-rich environment.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop curriculum-aligned programs that enhance literacy, numeracy, and research skills.
• Promote student engagement and wellbeing through inclusive practices and proactive behaviour management strategies.
• Lead innovative initiatives that elevate the library’s role as a central learning hub, incorporating emerging technologies and supporting inquiry-based, student-driven learning.
