Job summary

Department of Education in the Esperance District is seeking a Gardener - Handyperson for a permanent part-time 0.4 FTE role commencing Term 1, 2027. You’ll maintain school grounds to create a safe, tidy and inviting outdoor space for students and staff.

Based in Lake King, the role involves turf areas, gardens, shrubs, and basic hard landscaping, plus equipment upkeep and OSH-compliant risk assessments in collaboration with the Manager of Corporate Services and the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain school grounds to be safe, tidy and conducive to a positive learning environment.
• Oversee turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, and respond to landscaping needs including courts and paving.
• Manage gardening facilities, equipment and tools in good condition.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Corporate Services to develop safe work procedures and undertake risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation.
