Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking a part-time Orthoptist to help establish and grow the Specialist Outpatients Ophthalmology Service in Gladstone. You will assess, diagnose and manage ophthalmic conditions in adults and paediatric patients, delivering varied orthoptic assessments and treatments while collaborating with ophthalmologists and the broader team.

Qualifications

• Orthoptics degree and registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
• Knowledge of orthoptic investigations and contemporary ophthalmic equipment.
• Clinical capability in routine orthoptic services with paediatric refraction, retinoscopy and cyclo-refraction advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage ophthalmic conditions across adult and paediatric patients.
• Deliver a broad range of orthoptic and ophthalmic assessments, treatments and screening.
• Collaborate with Ophthalmologists and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Contribute to caseload management, service development and continuous improvement.
• Support education, supervision, mentoring and professional development of students and staff.
