Job summary

Austin Health is seeking a Grade 2 Orthoptist to provide clinical leadership and high-quality orthoptic care at the Heidelberg Repatriation Campus, within the Ophthalmology Outpatients. The role involves education, research, and service development, with a permanent, part-time arrangement (one Tuesday afternoon per month).

You will supervise junior staff and students, support the ophthalmology team across cataract and retinal conditions, and contribute to teaching partnerships with La Trobe

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level qualification in Orthoptics with registration.
• Minimum of three years of clinical orthoptics experience.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and deliver patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership supporting the Chief and orthoptists in delivering service excellence at Austin Health.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based orthoptic care across cataract, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and retinal disease.
• Supervise Grade 1 orthoptists and orthoptic students.
• Lead and contribute to undergraduate orthoptic teaching in partnership with La Trobe University.
• Help optimise clinic workflow and patient scheduling to ensure timely care.
