Job summary

SA Health’s Lyell McEwin Hospital in Elizabeth Vale invites a registered Midwife to join the Birthing and Assessment Unit on a part‑time, ongoing basis. You will deliver comprehensive midwifery care across birthing and assessment services, working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate care.

You must be a registered midwife with the Australian board, committed to woman‑centred and culturally safe care, and able to communicate effectively in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Experience in a hospital birthing or maternity assessment setting.
• Commitment to woman‑centred, culturally safe care and informed decision making.
• Strong clinical communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with SA Health governance frameworks or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based, woman‑centred care across the full scope of birthing and assessment services.
• Assess, plan and deliver midwifery care to women presenting to the Birthing and Assessment Unit.
• Collaborate with obstetric, neonatal and allied health colleagues to support safe care pathways.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and foster reflective, evidence‑informed practice.
