Job summary

MLHD invites a Visiting Medical Officer – Consultant Liaison Psychiatry to deliver expert CL psychiatry care at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. You will lead and shape the MHECS service across the district and partner with ED and multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care.

You will develop clinical pathways for complex presentations, provide supervision to psychiatry trainees, and demonstrate clinical leadership across MLHD. NSW-wide collaboration and on-call rostering support are expected.

Qualifications

• Medical qualification registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
• Membership with RANZCP CL psychiatry and accredited supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert Consultation Liaison Psychiatry care across Emergency and inpatient services.
• Lead the MHECS service across MLHD.
• Develop clinical pathways for complex presentations (e.g., eating disorders).
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision and coaching to MHECS clinicians and psychiatry trainees.
• Partner with ED and multidisciplinary teams to improve integration between mental health and acute care.
• Drive quality improvement, governance and service development.
