Job summary

Mater is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent part time basis 16hrs per week. Based at Mater’s Townsville Campus, with on‑site and hybrid work from home opportunities.

You’ll participate in clinical coding across a wide variety of specialties, for both private and pubic patients. The role requires ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS knowledge and experience with 3M Codefinder.

Qualifications

• Must have HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course or Certificate IV in Clinical Classification or equivalent.
• Up-to-date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
• Experience using 3M Codefinder.
• Strong organisation skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work autonomously and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigning morbidity and procedural classifications to patient episodes.
• Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards.
• Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and funding impact.
• Identify unclear or ambiguous documentation and initiate coding queries.
• Participate in coding audit, quality and education to expand coding skills.
• Apply confidentiality, privacy and security principles in the medical environment.
