Job summary

MidCoast Council is seeking a practical and motivated individual to deliver maintenance, cleaning and minor construction works across public spaces in Tea Gardens. The role covers parks, reserves, sports fields and cemeteries, with a focus on safe, efficient service delivery.

You will undertake maintenance, repairs, inspections and operate plant and equipment in line with WHS requirements. The position is permanent, full-time, based at Tea Gardens Depot, with potential support from other Council

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in parks and reserves maintenance and construction techniques.
• Hands-on experience in concreting, painting, carpentry and tiling plus basic plumbing and electrical principles.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Hold NSW Class C Driver Licence or higher.
• WHS general induction for construction work in NSW, with knowledge of WHS procedures.
• Current First Aid Certificate and AQF Level 3 Chemical Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Service Location and Test & Tag Certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to meet the focus capability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Undertake construction, installation, maintenance and repair of open space assets, including playgrounds, picnic tables, benches and retaining walls.
• Maintain and clean parks, reserves, sports fields and cemeteries including facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections, identify defects and hazards, and report or action issues.
• Operate and maintain plant, vehicles, tools and equipment per training and procedures.
• Plan, prioritise and complete work orders with minimal supervision.
• Complete work records, inspection reports and maintenance requests accurately.
• Proactively report issues and defects with relevant information.
• Work safely and comply with WHS and environmental requirements.
• Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and the public.
• Report incidents, injuries and near misses within required timeframes.
