Job summary

AGA in Victoria invites applicants to join as an Apprentice Horticulture (Parks & Gardens) in the Yarra Ranges area. This full-time apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with formal study to build a career in horticulture.

You will learn by doing under qualified horticulturists, maintaining parks, reserves, and open spaces while progressing through required training and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Green Space Maintenance: assist with weeding, herbicide spraying, brush-cutting, mulching, mowing, and pruning.
• Asset Care: help with path repairs, fencing, and nursery management.
• Safety & Monitoring: inspect parks and report damaged or dangerous park fixtures.
• Equipment Upkeep: safely operate and maintain council vehicles, plant, and machinery.
• Administration: complete daily timesheets, maintenance requests, and quality logs.
• Formal Learning: attend and participate in all required apprenticeship training courses.
