Job summary

Highlands First Aid is hiring casual Events Paramedics to deliver professional first aid and emergency medical response across NSW and ACT at a variety of events. You will run medical stations, assess injuries, document care, and coordinate with event organisers and other emergency services.

We welcome current or retired paramedics with AHPRA registration, and paramedicine students year 2+; the role requires strong communication, time management, and willingness to travel across the region.

Qualifications

  • Current or retired paramedics with AHPRA registration.
  • Paramedicine students in year 2 or above preferred.
  • Minimum Level 2 First Aid Certification or higher.
  • Current CPR/AED first aid certification HLTAID011 or above.
  • Proven experience delivering first aid or paramedic services at events.
  • Knowledge of emergency medical protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with calmness under pressure.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • WWC check (WWC) or willingness to obtain one if required.
  • Current or recent police clearance or National Police Clearance.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transport; willing to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional first aid and emergency medical response at assigned events and venues.
  • Assess and treat attendees presenting injuries or emergencies according to protocols.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all patient assessments and treatments.
  • Establish and manage medical stations or treatment areas at event venues.
  • Communicate with event organisers, venue staff, and other emergency services as needed.
  • Monitor venues for hazards and take preventive measures to reduce incidents.
  • Maintain medical equipment, supplies and consumables in ready state.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls during events and collaborate with other responders.

Events we cover

We cover a wide range of events including; Rodeos, Camp Draft, Horse Show Jumping, Dressage, Regional Agriculture Shows, AMCROSS, Moto Cross, Dirt Track Speedway, School Sports, Concerts for up to 10-12,000 people, Industrial Shutdowns, Tulip Time, Cycling events throughout Central NSW, Running Events including Marathons, Rugby, AFL, and Soccer Gala Days, Triathlons, Corporate Events, and many more.

Key responsibilities

Provide professional first aid and emergency medical response at assigned events and venues

Assess and treat attendees presenting with injuries or medical emergencies in accordance with current protocols and best practice guidelines

Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all patient assessments and treatments provided

Establish and maintain medical stations or treatment areas at event venues

Communicate effectively with event organisers, venue staff, and other emergency services as required

Monitor event areas for potential hazards and take preventative measures to reduce medical incidents

Maintain all medical equipment, supplies and consumables in a clean, organised and ready state

Respond promptly to emergency calls and medical requests during events

Work collaboratively with other first responders and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care delivery

Comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, and Highlands First Aid policies, protocols and procedures

What we're looking for

Current or retired Paramedics with current AHPRA registration

Current Paramedicine Students preferably year 2 or above, but not required

Minimum Level 2 First Aid Certification or higher (Paramedic or Advanced Paramedic status preferred)

Current CPR, AED First Aid certification - HLTAID011, or above

Proven experience providing first aid or paramedic services in event or community settings

Knowledge of emergency medical protocols and ability to work within established clinical guidelines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure

Strong organisational and time management abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Current Working with Children Check (WWC) or willingness to obtain one if required for specific events

Current police clearance or National Police Clearance

Current drivers license, reliable transport and willingness to travel to various locations within the region

Flexible approach to shift work and availability for weekend and evening events
