Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT is seeking a dedicated paralegal to support the Care and Protection/Family Law Practice in Dubbo, NSW. You will assist solicitors with legal research, drafting documents, and preparing matters for hearings, while liaising with clients and other agencies to ensure culturally respectful service delivery.

Role involves legal file maintenance, administrative support, and collaboration within a team that serves Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Competenze

• Formal paralegal qualifications or currently undertaking a Law Degree.
• Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support, referral and community services within the Care and Protection system.
• Ability to deliver Community Legal Education and build effective relationships with government and non-government organisations.
• Current NSW/ACT driver’s licence and required background and child-safety checks.

• Provide high-level paralegal support to solicitors, including legal research, drafting documents, and preparing matters for hearings.
• Assist with court matters, client interviews, file reviews, and preparation of applications, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Liaise with clients, courts, government and non-government agencies, and other legal professionals.
• Maintain accurate files, databases, and statistical records, ensuring compliance with practice standards and confidentiality requirements.
• Provide administrative and secretarial support including document preparation, correspondence, and general office support.
• Work collaboratively with the team while supporting culturally respectful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities.
