Job summary

Q1ST Painting in Brisbane is seeking a skilled Painter to join our growing team. You will prepare surfaces, apply coatings and decorative finishes across residential and commercial projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

The role requires 1-2 years of relevant painting experience, a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating is desirable, and a current driver's licence. You will work independently and as part of a team, upholding safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent relevant qualification) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant painting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in residential and commercial painting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, wallpaper, loose material and imperfections.
• Cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and smoothing surfaces before painting.
• Applying primers, sealers and undercoats to ensure proper adhesion and durability.
• Selecting and preparing paints, varnishes, stains and other finishing materials.
• Mixing paints and matching colours to meet project specifications.
• Applying paint, varnish and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Erecting scaffolding, ladders and other access equipment safely when required.
• Applying decorative finishes, textures and protective coatings.
• Measuring surfaces and estimating quantities of paint and materials required.
• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and job specifications.
• Ensuring all painting work meets quality standards and client expectations.
• Maintaining painting tools, equipment and a clean, safe work environment.
