Qualifications

• Fellowship of ACEM or FRACP in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, or eligibility via approved pathway.
• Significant leadership experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Expertise in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development.
• Ability to lead, inspire and support high-performing teams.
• Strong commitment to medical education, mentorship and workforce development.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
• Passion for delivering outstanding care and improving outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic, clinical and operational direction of our Paediatric Emergency Department.
• Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Drive governance, patient safety, quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Lead service planning and departmental performance against organisational objectives and KPIs.
• Support, mentor and develop our senior and junior medical workforce.
• Strengthen partnerships across John Hunter Hospital, John Hunter Children's Hospital and external stakeholders.
• Champion education, training, research and evidence-based practice.
• Help shape the future design and growth of paediatric emergency services across our district.
