Job summary

Orchard Marketing, a leading medical communications agency based in Sydney, Australia, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Copywriter to join our dynamic team. You will craft compelling and compliant medical content for pharmaceutical and healthcare clients.

You will lead brands from strategy and copy, drive the editorial process, mentor junior writers, and collaborate with design, strategy, and account teams to deliver accurate, on-brand materials that meet Medicines Australia Code

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or PhD in sciences required.
• Minimum 5 years of medical writing experience.
• Experience in HCP pharma advertising agencies.
• Expertise in claim development and substantiation.
• Familiarity with Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.
• Strong presentation and pitching experience.
• Proficient with Veeva/PromoMats.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex medical/scientific concepts into clear, concise copy.
• Create branded HCP campaign materials including websites, detail aids, leave behinds, emails.
• Create HCP medical education campaign materials including slide decks, invites, workbooks, and other collateral.
• Lead brands from both strategy and copy perspectives with minimal oversight.
• Drive the editorial process from first draft to final proof; ensure accuracy and quality.
• Partner with design, strategy, account, and project management teams.
• Ensure all content is on-brand and Code-compliant.
• Drive copy and strategic perspectives in client meetings.
• Manage competing priorities.
• Provide oversight, guidance and support to junior writers.
• Play a key role in researching and developing content for proposals and pitch presentations.
• Stay up to date on current trends in medical education and pharma industry developments.

• Comfort working across multiple therapeutic areas and lifecycle stages (pre‑launch to brand maintenance)
• Have strong presentation and pitching experience
• Clear understanding of Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
• Highly proficient with Veeva/PromoMats
• Meticulous attention to detail, quality, and version control
• Strong time management in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
