Job summary

Gold Fields is seeking a Charge Up Operator at Granny Smith to perform charging development and production blasts underground. You will handle and transport explosives and maintain firing lines in a safety-conscious, compliant manner.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Production, you’ll join a high-performing crew and contribute to blast readiness. FIFO from Perth with a rotating roster is provided, and safety/talent development is encouraged.

• Underground mining experience required or exposure in charge up or service crew.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
• Proactive safety-focused mindset.
• Ability to work in physically demanding underground environment.

• Charging development and production rounds.
• Safely handling and transporting explosives per regulations.
• Tying up and preparing blasts safely and accurately.
• Conducting pre and post-blast inspections.
• Maintaining equipment and reporting issues.
• Collaborating with underground crew to maintain safety and housekeeping.

The Opportunity

As a Charge Up Operator, you’ll be responsible for charging development and production blasts, handling and transporting explosives, maintaining underground firing lines and carrying out shot-firing duties to strict compliance and safety standards.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Production, you’ll join a high-performing crew that plays a vital role in underground blast readiness.

Skills & Qualifications

• Substantial underground mining experience (Charge Up or Service crew exposure highly regarded, as well as use of emulsion and ANFO in blasting)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• A proactive attitude with a commitment to working safely
• Able to work effectively in a team in a physically demanding underground environment
• WA Shotfirer’s license
• Valid manual C Class Driver’s Licence
• WA Dangerous Goods Security Card and Working at Heights
