APA is pursuing Australia’s energy future as the nation’s energy infrastructure partner. The Operations Security and Access Manager will lead the Operations Physical Security Team and drive the Physical Security Uplift program across APA’s assets and sites.

You will develop BAU security governance, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with legislation while advancing security standards across APA’s operations in Australia.

• Extensive experience delivering end-to-end physical security projects in large government, defence, or critical infrastructure contexts.
• Strong budget and financial management experience within large programs.
• Solid understanding of physical security principles and access control systems.
• Experience with security incident management and investigation processes.

Job description

The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Operations Security and Access Manager to join us in our Operations Strategy & Integration team in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Resilience, you will play a key role in leading the Operations Physical Security Team and delivery of Physical Security Uplift program aligning with SoCI initiatives across APA under budget within allocated board approved timeframe. You will also develop and maintain Operations Physical Security “Business as Usual”, suitable for APA to maintain compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Physical Security Uplifts to Critical Infrastructure assets at or below forecasted budget
• Drive program efficiencies within APA and Vendors, removing internal barriers where applicable whilst maintaining compliance with all authorities
• Provision of operational security technology to asset owners and teams ensuring application of legislative requirements is understood and continuously applied
• Uplift and maintain necessary access management and physical security standards APA wide enforcing access segregation and appropriate authorisation processes are strictly adhered to
• Establishment of BAU/functional security methodologies outside of program environment ensuring ongoing compliance, system monitoring and incident management across operational sites
• Create, uplift and maintain governance suite covering Critical and Non-Critical infrastructure, facilities and personnel/access requirements aligning with business and legislative requirements.

Your background

• Extensive experience managing and delivering end to end physical security projects within large government, defence industry or critical infrastructure entities
• Exceptional financial/budget management experience within large scale programs
• Strong understanding of current physical security principals and access control systems
• Demonstrated experience with security incident management and investigation processes
• Ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
