About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Full-Time position to cover Long Service Leave for 7 months from 25 January to 13 August 2027, at 1.0 FTE/ 80 hours per fortnight within the Department of General Medicine

You will be responsible for:

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the effective operational management and ongoing development of the Department of General Medicine. Working closely with the Director of General Medicine and multidisciplinary leadership team, you will oversee key operational portfolios including workforce planning, financial and budget management, business planning, recruitment, resource management and service improvement.

You will lead and support strategic projects, analyse operational and financial data, develop business cases and identify opportunities to improve service efficiency, sustainability and performance. You will also play a key role in fostering a positive, collaborative multidisciplinary workforce and ensuring the department meets its operational, governance and compliance requirements.

Classification for this position will be AO99.

What you'll achieve:
  • In conjunction with the Director of General Medicine, develop and improve General Medicine operations to ensure ongoing sustainability and service delivery efficiencies by managing budgets, process improvements, identification, and implementation of strategic objectives in accordance with the RCH Strategic Plan.
  • Personnel management and administration of departmental staffing needs including recruitment, credentialing, change of employment conditions and terminations, ensuring accuracy of employment terms and conditions and creation of new position descriptions
  • Evaluate operational and financial business data and utilise to facilitate planning to provide strategic clarity to current organisational issues. Management of leave management and monitoring of leave liability of staff on behalf of the Director.
Your skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or significant relevant industry experience
  • Proven leadership experience in a team environment and ability to work well as a senior team member
  • Minimum of five years' senior level experience in the provision of administrative support and service delivery
