Job summary

RPR Trades is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the workshop team, drive production efficiency, and coordinate materials, quality and safety. You will optimise productivity, oversee material readiness, and ensure top-quality outputs in a hands-on, results-driven environment.

The role focuses on lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and strong KPI reporting to support daily production workflows and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have strong background in manufacturing operations and production management.
• Hands-on experience with Lean tools (TIMWOOD, 5S, Kaizen).
• Expertise in materials planning, inventory control, BOM management, and supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor productivity and production control; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee materials readiness, manage reorder points, and reduce downtime due to material issues.
• Uphold WHS policies, conduct safety inspections, and run training programs.
• Maintain quality systems with clear checkpoints, analyze defects, and drive corrective actions.
• Champion a safety-first, quality-second, productivity-third culture.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced OPERATIONS MANAGER to lead our workshop team and drive production efficiency. If you have a passion for Lean manufacturing and want to play a pivotal role in coordinating materials, quality, and safety while managing daily production workflows, this is the role for you.

Your focus will be on optimising productivity, overseeing material readiness, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring top-quality outputs that meet rigorous standards - all within a hands-on, results-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• PRODUCTIVITY AND PRODUCTION CONTROL: Monitor labour hours, identify bottlenecks, collaborate on corrective actions, and support visual production planning.
• MATERIALS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Ensure parts availability, maintain reorder points, monitor supplier performance, and minimise downtime due to material issues.
• SAFETY AND TRAINING: Develop and maintain WHS policies, SOPs, conduct safety inspections, manage training programs, and investigate incidents.
• QUALITY SYSTEMS: Set clear quality checkpoints, analyse defects, implement corrective actions, promote standard work, and manage final compliance processes.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

• Strong background in manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, and production management
• Practical knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools such as TIMWOOD, 5S, and Kaizen
• Expertise in materials planning, inventory control, BOM management, and supplier performance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in KPI reporting
• Experienced in workplace health and safety with ability to develop SOPs and training materials
• Leadership skills with a focus on accountability, communication, and fostering a safety-first culture
• Desirable: Experience in modular building or related manufacturing; qualifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or WHS; familiarity with ERP and Zoho systems; DMAIC process knowledge
