Job summary

WSP is seeking an Operations Executive - Building Services to provide operational leadership across the business, translating strategy into action with robust governance and performance oversight.

The role focuses on improving project delivery, profitability and growth while promoting compliance, risk management and cross-functional collaboration with Directors, PMs and Finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Business Unit leaders to monitor operational performance and support objectives.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting with Finance Partners.
• Monitor KPIs, identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Review pipeline/backlog reporting for workload planning.
• Undertake profitability and risk analysis to inform decisions.
• Drive consistency and collaboration in project performance and delivery.
• Support integration of acquired businesses into WSP systems.
• Promote operational performance through WSP Global Capability Centres (GCC).
• Ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) governance and performance.
• Provide governance across the project portfolio and manage risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to optimise project financials and outcomes.
• Lead project reviews and provide insights into performance and corrective actions.
• Review proposals’ pricing, risk and contracts.
• Support mobilisation and setup of major projects including Defence.

About the Role

As Operations Executive - Building Services, you will provide operational leadership and support across the business, working closely with Directors, Project Managers, Finance and Commercial teams to drive strong business and project outcomes.

You will act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, helping translate strategic objectives into operational action through effective performance management, governance, workforce planning, financial oversight and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will focus on strengthening operational performance across the business, identifying risks and opportunities, improving project delivery outcomes, and supporting sustainable growth across the Building Services team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Partner with Business Unit leaders to monitor operational performance and support the achievement of strategic and financial objectives
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities in collaboration with Finance Business Partners.
• Monitor business performance metrics and KPIs, identifying trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Review pipeline and backlog reporting to support opportunity management and forward workload planning.
• Undertake commercial, profitability and risk analysis to support informed business decisions.
• Drive consistency and collaboration in project performance and delivery across the business.
• Support the operational and financial integration of acquired businesses into WSP systems and processes.
• Help maximise operational performance through WSP's Global Capability Centres (GCC).
• Promote strong compliance and performance across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ).
• Provide governance and oversight across the project portfolio, proactively managing risks and opportunities.
• Partner with Project Managers and commercial teams to optimise project financial and commercial outcomes.
• Lead project reviews and provide insights into project performance, emerging risks and required corrective actions.
• Review commercial aspects of proposals, including pricing, risk allocation and contractual arrangements.
• Support the mobilisation and set-up of major projects, including Defence projects.

This role can be based within our Australian Building Services business and will work closely with operational, commercial and project delivery teams nationally.

You will bring:

• Proven commercial and financial experience within an engineering consultancy or professional services environment.
• Experience supporting business performance at both project and cost-centre level.
• Strong understanding of consultancy operations, delivery models and the key drivers of profitable growth.
• Demonstrated experience working with budgets, forecasting, reporting and operational performance metrics.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
• Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using Oracle ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience supporting business integration or financial migration activities will be highly regarded.
• A proactive and energetic approach with a focus on continuous improvement and business performance.
