Job summary

Motorola Solutions Australia & NZ seeks an experienced Operations Engineer to provide high quality technical and operational support for IP-based communication system infrastructure and subscriber technologies. You will join the Services team delivering world-class, end-to-end solutions across radio, data, and voice networks.

You will be a technical leader, ensuring service levels and KPIs are met, contributing to network design and maintenance, and participating in an on-call roster to support

Qualifications

• 3+ years in an engineering or equivalent role for radio networks or systems.
• ITIL certification required.
• Experience with Windows/Linux servers and Microsoft AD.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality technical and operational support for IP-based systems and subscriber technologies.
• Act as escalation point for NOC staff or Field Engineers when needed.
• Create and implement Change & Problem management and test procedures.
• Develop and audit as-built documentation and maintain accuracy.
• Participate in standby roster and 24x7 on-call operation.
• Support core systems, consoles and network devices remotely and onsite.
• Perform maintenance updates and upgrades to system components and networks.

We are a professional services team that delivers systems integration projects and managed services to our customers. We deliver customer focused world-class, leading edge, end-to-end solutions fit for purpose within each customer’s unique environment that include various voice (including radio) communications, data and video technologies with our clients predominantly in the public safety government sector and the energy & natural resources industry.

Job Description

As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible to provide high quality technical and operational support for IP-based communication system infrastructure and subscriber technologies/systems supplied by Motorola Solutions. In this role, you are expected to ensure service level and operational key performance measures are met and to provide technical excellence and leadership to other members of the Services team.

Your role will include, but not limited to the following:

• Provide technical subject matter expertise, engineering and upgrade support for main systems and sub-systems used on the applicable radio, microwave or data networks
• Act as a technical escalation point for Network Operations Centre (NOC) staff or Field Engineers when necessary
• Create and implement Change & Problem management, knowledge management and test procedures for system routine maintenance
• Develop and audit as built documentation and update as required to ensure accuracy
• Participate in standby roster, 24x7 on call operation
• Support core system, consoles and network devices (firewalls, routers, switches, microwave, servers both physical and virtual) remotely and onsite
• Perform maintenance updates and upgrade system components, network devices (remote/onsite) and assist with network designs

Basic Requirements

Education and Qualifications

• Tertiary Qualifications in Electronics / Computer Systems Engineering or similar (Extensive industry experience will be considered as an alternative)
• Experience with Juniper Networks devices (JNCIA)

Experience and Skills

• 3+ years in an Engineering or equivalent role implementation and/or support of sophisticated radio communications networks or systems
• ITIL certificate of proficiency
• Support and administration experience of IT networks and/or microwave transmission systems
• Experience with administration configuration, fault finding and maintenance of networks, windows and linux servers, workstations and applications
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server
• Membership eligibility of Engineers Australia or equivalent recognised industry group

Other Requirements

• Successful applicants will be required to pass a police security clearance
• Participate in an on call roster system.
• Licensed to drive in Australia

• Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations, using 4 x 4 drive vehicles, fixed and rotary aircraft
