Job summary

Goulburn Valley Water is seeking an Operational Engineer to provide expert engineering advice and operational support for capital projects, major maintenance, and asset acquisitions across our service region. You will bridge project delivery and operations, translating solutions into practical outcomes that boost asset performance and service reliability.

You will be based in Shepparton or Seymour with some travel, and flexible work arrangements are available where operationally appropriate.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Engineering (mechanical, civil or environmental)
• Diploma or higher in Project/Contract Management (or equivalent) preferred
• Experience as a Mechanical Engineer ideally within the water or utilities sector
• Extensive experience in project, program and contract management
• Proven ability to manage infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery and operational handover
• High level expertise and knowledge relevant to water and wastewater infrastructure
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
• Sound knowledge of safety practices associated with project, program and contract management

Responsibilities

• Represent operational requirements in capital planning, project delivery and asset management activities through provision of technical engineering advice to support water and wastewater operations
• Partner with operational teams to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges and improve asset performance
• Contribute to project management activities including business cases, planning, resource management, contract administration and oversight of minor capital major maintenance and asset acquisition programs
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and the adoption of new technologies and processes across Service Delivery
