Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Australia is seeking an Opening Solutions Designer for its Opening Solutions Design Academy in Perth. The program offers structured training, mentoring and hands-on experience on real projects across healthcare, education and public infrastructure in Australia.

You will learn to develop door hardware schedules, interpret architectural drawings and gain exposure to customer-facing technical work with experienced professionals guiding your growth.

Qualifications

• Exposure through study or work in Building Design, Architectural Drafting, CAD, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, Estimating, Building Products, Door Hardware, or similar technical fields.
• Eagerness to learn and develop in technical design and specification roles.
• Strong attention to detail and good written English and numeracy skills.

As an Opening Solutions Designer with ASSA ABLOY Australia, you'll join our Opening Solutions Design Academy, a structured development program designed to build your technical, commercial and industry knowledge through formal training, mentoring and practical experience. You'll work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to real projects, customers and building specifications used across healthcare, education, commercial and public infrastructure projects throughout Australia.
Commencing February 2027

In this role, you'll help develop door hardware schedules and technical specifications that play a critical role in how buildings operate, secure and protect people.

Experience in door hardware isn't required. We're looking for people who are curious, resilient, detail-oriented and eager to learn. Whether your skills come from study, work, hobbies, personal interests or a technical background, we'll provide the support and training needed to help you succeed.

About You

You may have gained exposure through study or work in Building Design, Architectural Drafting, CAD, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, Estimating, Building Products, Door Hardware, Technical Customer Service or other technical environment. Alternatively, you may bring transferable skills, a strong aptitude for learning and a genuine interest in developing a career in technical design and specification.

Locations

We’re recruiting this position in Perth (Malaga)

This is an office-based role, working Monday to Friday, designed to maximise collaboration, mentoring and on-the-job learning. You’ll work closely with experienced team members and gain hands‑on exposure that supports your development through the Opening Solutions Design Academy.
