Job summary

New Porgera Limited (NPL) invites applications for the Open Pit Engineering Superintendent to lead the open pit engineering team in delivering safe, efficient mine designs, planning, and support services. FIFO to PNG with a 21/14 roster, you will oversee short-, medium-, and long-term plans and ensure production targets are met in line with the life-of-mine strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years open pit mining experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent-level role.
• Strong leadership and people management capability.
• Advanced proficiency in Deswik and mine planning software.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical, hydrological and environmental considerations within open pit mining.
• Experience in large-scale gold mining operations highly regarded.
• Professional Engineering registration, or eligibility for registration, desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of mine planners, drill & blast engineers and technical personnel.
• Oversee the development and execution of short-, medium- and long-term mine plans.
• Review and approve production schedules, haulage profiles, mine designs and waste dump designs.
• Ensure mine plans meet safety, environmental, regulatory and economic requirements.
• Collaborate with geology, geotechnical and operations teams to optimise ore extraction and mine performance.
• Provide technical support and guidance to daily mining operations.
• Monitor performance against production, cost and operational targets.
• Drive continuous improvement across mine planning processes and systems.
• Manage departmental budgets, cost control and financial reporting.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical team members.
• Ensure compliance with applicable mining legislation, safety standards and regulatory frameworks.
