Job summary

St Nicholas OOSH in Maitland and surrounding regions is seeking part-time OOSH Educators/Assistants who can also act as a Responsible Person. Roles involve supporting before/after school and vacation care programs across Maitland, Cessnock, Abermain and Branxton.

Applicants should have relevant qualifications and be available for afternoon shifts at least twice weekly, with duties including supervision, program support and promoting children's development.

Qualifications

• Computer literacy to document learning stories.
• Experience in an OOSH service is desirable.
• Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training desirable.
• Food Handler Basics Training desirable.
• Working with Children Check verification number.

Responsibilities

• Supervising children’s play and ensuring safety while guiding positive behaviour.
• Assisting in developing and implementing programs promoting independence, social skills, learning and development.

Description:
We are currently seeking OOSH Assistants and Educators who are also willing to be a Responsible Person to join the teams at several of our successful and well-established services across the Maitland and Cessnock Regions.

These opportunities will be offered on a permanent part-time basis, working across our before and after school programs and vacation care programs. The locations include Maitland, Cessnock, Abermain and Branxton.

You must be available to work afternoon shifts at least twice a week.

As an OOSH Educator / Assistant and Responsible person, you will be responsible for:

• Supervising children’s play, ensuring their physical safety while promoting and guiding positive behaviour
• Assisting the developing and implementing programs that offer a diverse range of experiences to promote children’s independence, social skills, learning, and development.

Skills and Experiences:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

• Computer literacy in order to document examples of learning stories
• Experience in an OOSH service (desirable)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate III in Children’s Services or Certificate IV in School Age Education as identified by Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority or be studying towards and early childhood or Primary Teaching qualification
• Working with Children Check verification number
• Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training (desirable)
• Food Handler Basics Training (desirable)
