Job summary

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Virtual Rehabilitation Ward is seeking an experienced occupational therapist to deliver assessments and interventions to patients at home and through the virtual ward.

You will provide comprehensive OT services to Ambulatory Rehabilitation as part of an interdisciplinary team, support discharge planning, and contribute to the ongoing development of virtual care models within SALHN metropolitan area.

Qualifications

• Registration as an occupational therapist with the Occupational Therapy Broad of Australia (the Board).
• Experience providing rehab to patients with complex neurological, medical or orthopaedic conditions.
• Ability to supervise students, allied health assistants and junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual and in-person OT assessments to set rehabilitation goals.
• Design and progress individualized programs focused on ADLs, home safety and community reintegration.
• Provide information to patients/relatives about functioning and ongoing management.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary virtual ward team for care transitions and discharge planning.
• Contribute to development of virtual care models and quality improvement.

• Salary $94,997 - $110,052 p.a. (Pro Rata) AHP2 | 30 Hours Per Week – Contract Until November 2027

Flinders Medical Centre's Virtual Rehab Ward is reshaping how rehabilitation care reaches patients across southern Adelaide. Deliver occupational therapy assessment and intervention to patients receiving care remotely, supporting their recovery and functional independence from home.

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager - Virtual Rehabilitation Ward, this role is responsible for ensuring optimal care and outcomes by providing a comprehensive range of occupational therapy services to patients receiving supported early discharge and home rehabilitation within the SALHN metropolitan area.

Duties for the role will include:

• Conducting virtual and in-person occupational therapy assessments to establish rehabilitation goals aligned with patient function and lifestyle.
• Designing and progressing individualised treatment programs focused on activities of daily living, home safety, and community reintegration.
• Providing information to patients and/or relatives about level of functioning and ongoing management.
• Collaborating within a multidisciplinary virtual ward team to coordinate care transitions and discharge planning.
• Contributing to the ongoing development of virtual care models and quality improvement within the unit.

About you:

• A degree or other qualification which entitles registration as an occupational therapist with the Occupational Therapy Broad of Australia.
• Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high quality rehabilitation to clients with a variety of complex neurological, medical or orthopaedic conditions.
• Ability to assume responsibility for the organisation and provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services to Ambulatory Rehabilitation as a member of an interdisciplinary team. This includes ability to undertake assessment and intervention with patients with a variety of disorders and disabilities, including management of complex cases.
• Ability to critically analyse or evaluate issues related to Occupational Therapy care in a manner which can be applied to quality activities, service evaluation, professional education or research with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• High levels of responsibility and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, delegate appropriately. This includes the ability to supervise students, allied health assistants and junior staff.
