Job summary

Wakai Waian Healing is seeking Occupational Therapists for Rockhampton or Caloundra. The role supports OTs with or pursuing mental health endorsement, spanning generalist, NDIS, disability, paediatrics, and community work.

We offer supervision, travel support, and a burnout‑prevention model with admin time and professional development. You will work with First Nations communities and collaborate with families, schools, and employers.

Qualifications

  • Must hold or be eligible for AHPRA registration.
  • Experience with mental health end‑orsement is desirable.
  • Experience across disability, paediatrics, community, or aged care is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Functional capacity assessments in home or clinic.
  • Ongoing OT therapy and goal‑directed interventions.
  • Home, community, school, and workplace adaptations.
  • Collaboration with families, carers, teachers, employers, and other professionals.
  • Work with OT and NDIS team to deliver high‑quality OT services.
  • Individual and group therapeutic interventions.
  • Outreach, in‑office, and telehealth service delivery.
  • Care planning, reviews, and reporting.
  • Engagement with First Nations communities and stakeholders.
  • Support pathway for mental health endorsement.

Duties
NDIS / Disability / Functional Capacity Work
  • Functional capacity assessments (in home/clinic) and associated reporting
  • Ongoing OT therapy and goal‑directed interventions
  • Home, community, school, and workplace adaptations
  • Collaboration with families, carers, teachers, employers, and other professionals
  • Work closely with OT and NDIS Team to deliver high‑quality OT services
  • Individual and group therapeutic interventions
  • Outreach, in‑office, and telehealth service delivery
  • Best‑practice assessment, care planning, reviews, and reporting
  • Collaboration with community members and partner services
  • Supported pathway for OTs wishing to pursue mental health endorsement
  • Current AHPRA registration (or ability to obtain)
  • Willingness to work with First Nations families and communities
  • Ability to undertake regular travel including overnight stays to regional, rural, or remote communities
