Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join our Medical Services team. This role offers either full-time (1.0 EFT) or part-time fixed-term employment to deliver specialist obstetric and gynaecological care across inpatient and outpatient settings, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to regional health initiatives.

You will lead care pathways, support clinical governance and participate in ongoing service improvement to enhance outcomes for women

The Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist provides high-quality specialist obstetric and gynaecological care to patients across Latrobe Regional Health. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional clinical care across inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting the education and development of junior medical staff, and contributing to the achievement of LRH's strategic priorities.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in promoting best practice, patient safety, clinical excellence and continuous service improvement while supporting women and families throughout their healthcare journey.

The role of the Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist is to:

• Provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring patient safety and positive clinical outcomes.
• Lead and contribute to the development of treatment plans, clinical guidelines and care pathways that support best practice and continuity of care.
• Supervise, mentor and support junior medical staff, medical students and other health professionals to foster workforce capability and excellence in clinical practice.
• Participate in service planning, quality improvement activities and the development of policies, procedures and protocols across the Women's and Children's Division.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, community providers and general practitioners to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Contribute to professional development, organisational initiatives and senior medical staff rosters, including on-call requirements.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, with a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality and person-centred care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor and support junior medical staff while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
• Commitment to quality improvement, clinical governance, evidence-based practice and the ongoing development of self and others.
• A flexible, adaptable and professional approach, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment and support organisational change.
