Job summary

ME Medical Recruitment is seeking an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant for a Regional Country City in Northern NSW. The position offers a rewarding coastal-inland lifestyle with a strong community and a Level 4 service.

The Women’s Care Unit works with GPs, social workers, physiotherapists, AMIHS teams and child health nurses to provide comprehensive care to women and their families during pregnancy and after birth.

Qualifications

• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as an O&G Consultant.
• Recent clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and provide supervision.
• Commitment to teaching, research and quality improvement.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rosters.

Responsibilities

• Provide obstetrics and gynaecology care to women and families in the service area.
• Collaborate with GPs, midwives, AMIHS teams and allied health professionals.
• Participate in on-call roster and respond on site within a reasonable time.

Job description

ME Medical Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant for a Regional Country City in Northern NSW.

The town has a country feel to it in a subtropical climate. It is cold in the winter and can get very hot in the summer so presents the four seasons well.

Situated on a river, this has a tight knit community.

The Women’s Care Unit includes a team of midwives, nurses, obstetricians, paediatricians and provides care to women and their families in the immediate and surrounding areas.

The team works with GPs, social workers, physiotherapists, Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS) teams and child and family health nurses and is is a Level 4 service which means they can care for most women and their unborn babies during pregnancy and after birth. At times, we care for women with gynaecological health problems or surgery.

Where you'll be working:

The base Hospital is submerged in the rural community providing a wide range of accessible healthcare services to the public.

This is a level 3/4 facility providing care to over 13,000 inpatients each year and work closely with another District Hospital as well as other hospitals in Northern NSW and tertiary hospitals in Southern Queensland to support the healthcare needs of our community. With a population of approximately 51,300 the area and we have a well-established health care infrastructure and a strong network of community services to support your career needs. The area provides the lifeblood of this picturesque region, connecting the regional centre with another historic township and the stunning seaside towns. This location is a commercial and professional hub in Northern NSW and is one of the state’s most dynamic and fastest growing regions. Situated just three hours south of the Gold Coast, two hours south of Byron Bay and one hour north of Coffs Harbour the hospital is not far from anywhere and is a 45 minute drive to any number of beaches.

Selection Criteria

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a O&G Consultant , and/or overseas trained specialist pathway with a substantially comparable outcome with RANZCOG.
2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
