Job summary

Somerset Private Hospital, part of the Cura Day Hospital group, is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse with a strong Scrub/Scout background to join as Nurse Unit Manager. You will lead the perioperative team, mentor staff, drive theatre efficiency, and deliver outstanding patient care in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates will have NUM or clinical leadership experience, AHPRA registration, and extensive perioperative knowledge across orthopaedics, general surgery, plastics,

Qualifications

• Registration with AHPRA is mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years perioperative experience.
• Experience as Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or in clinical leadership.
• Familiarity with Industrial Relations Acts and relevant regulations.
• Knowledge of health care professional regulation and ISO 9001 accreditation.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced perioperative nurse with a strong Scrub/Scout background. Ideally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience as a Nurse Unit Manager or have strong clinical leadership experience in a Floor Coordinator role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Floor Coordinator looking to take the next step into a leadership role.

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will lead our perioperative team, mentor and support staff development, drive theatre efficiency, and play a key role in delivering outstanding patient care within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key experience we're seeking includes:

• Scrub/Scout nursing experience
• Demonstrated NUM or clinical leadership experience
• Experience across Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Plastics, Dental and Ophthalmology
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Registration with AHPRA
• A minimum 5 years Perioperative Experience.
• Previous experience in a NUM role
• Working knowledge of Industrial Relations Acts, regulations and other relevant statutory obligations
• Knowledge of the regulation of health care professionals
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Accreditation
• Understanding of contemporary clinical practice
• Knowledge of the ANMC Competency standards for Registered Nurses
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• National Criminal Record Check
• Working with Children Check
