A well-established hospital in Sydney is seeking an experienced and committed Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead its dedicated Mental Health inpatient service. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a growing program that provides evidence-based care to adults requiring acute mental health support.

About the Role

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a specialised inpatient Mental Health Unit offering services such as:

  • Mood disorders (depression, bipolar)
  • Anxiety and stress-related conditions
  • PTSD and trauma-related presentations
  • Postnatal mental health care
  • Addiction support
  • Structured group therapy programs including CBT, DBT and mindfulness-based approaches

You will drive clinical excellence, promote a positive team culture, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to nursing and allied health teams
  • Oversee patient care, safety, quality and compliance
  • Manage workforce planning, rostering and staff development
  • Foster a therapeutic, recovery-oriented environment
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists and therapy facilitators
  • Ensure best-practice standards across all mental health services
About You
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Significant experience in Mental Health nursing (inpatient experience ideal)
  • Previous leadership or NUM/ANUM experience desirable
  • Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • Passion for patient-centred care and service improvement
  • Ability to lead, motivate and mentor a diverse clinical team
