Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work with graduation within the last 12 months.
• Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Hospital-based Social Work placement in an inpatient care setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Commitment to person-centred, compassionate and evidence-based practice.
• Enthusiasm for ongoing learning, supervision and professional development.
• Current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current Working with Children Check (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments and applying clinical reasoning to develop appropriate intervention and discharge plans.
• Providing social work interventions to patients experiencing a range of health, social and psychosocial needs.
• Working collaboratively with patients, families and carers to support treatment, care planning and discharge.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community services to coordinate appropriate supports.
• Developing positive working relationships across the Social Work Department, broader hospital and external community services.
• Participating in regular clinical supervision and education as part of the New Graduate framework.
• Contributing to quality improvement, research and service development activities.
• Building your clinical knowledge and professional skills within a supportive learning environment.
