Job summary

Occom Pty Ltd seeks an experienced Network & Systems Engineer to support and maintain our network, systems, wireless, security, and data centre infrastructure. This hands‑on role combines network engineering and systems administration, ensuring reliability and performance of business‑critical services.

You will manage LAN/WAN, firewall, VPN, and security infra; install and troubleshoot Cisco/Fortinet environments; maintain Windows and Linux servers; and contribute to infrastructure projects

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Infrastructure, Network and Systems Engineering roles.
• Proficient with TCP/IP, routing, switching, Wi‑Fi and security.
• Hands‑on Cisco and Fortinet experience in enterprise settings.
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers in data centre environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure and support LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, firewall, VPN, and security infrastructure.
• Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Cisco, Fortinet, Ruckus, and UniFi environments.
• Support and maintain Windows and Linux server environments.
• Manage and support virtualization including VMware, Hyper‑V.
• Perform data centre activities: rack/stack, cabling, patching, hardware deployments.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimise infrastructure performance and availability.
• Deliver infrastructure projects, upgrades and technology refreshes.
• Maintain documentation and support change management processes.
• Participate in on‑call roster and incident response.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Network & Systems Engineer to support and maintain our network, systems, wireless, security, and data centre infrastructure. This hands‑on role combines network engineering and systems administration, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of business‑critical services. You will be responsible for supporting enterprise network and server environments, delivering infrastructure projects, maintaining data centre operations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our technology platforms.

Key responsibilities

Manage, configure and support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, firewall, VPN, and security infrastructure.

Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Cisco, Fortinet, Ruckus, and UniFi environments.

Support and maintain Windows and Linux server environments.

Manage and support virtualisation including VMware, Hyper‑V related technologies.

Perform data centre activities including rack and stack, cabling, patching, equipment installation, and hardware deployments.

Monitor, maintain, and optimise infrastructure performance and availability.

Deliver infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology refreshes.

Maintain technical documentation and support change management processes.

Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience in Infrastructure, Network and Systems Engineering roles.

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing & Switching, Wi‑Fi and network security.

Hands‑on experience with Cisco, and Fortinet technologies.

Experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux environments.

Experience working in data centre environments.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in ISP, telecommunications, or managed services environments.

Automation or scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.

Strong experience in enterprise Wi‑Fi and large‑scale WLAN deployments.

Qualifications

Degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.

Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet FCP/FCSS, Microsoft, VMware, or equivalent certifications.
