Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Network Development Engineer to design, plan, deliver, and operate our global infrastructure. You will join a team responsible for the stability and scalability of AWS networks, supporting thousands of devices and services worldwide.

The role combines technical leadership with proactive engineering and collaboration with deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments, automation, and improved detection.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
  • 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience.
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.

Responsibilities

  • Drive deep dives for large-scale events, deliver high-quality documentation and drive corrective actions to completion.
  • Improve our detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues and effectively engage with senior-level engineering teams for full resolution.
  • Work closely with our Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
  • Drive standards across the and ensure that we are fully compliant to those standards and policies.
  • Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
  • Troubleshoot , and interconnectivity issues, including device configuration and low-level application interaction.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to repetitive tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.
  • Provide critical on-shift network operations support to diagnose and mitigate large-scale events.
  • Effectively contribute towards hiring and developing others in the team.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • Solid understanding of network troubleshooting and performance including TCP performance (latency, jitter, buffers), throughput/packet rate testing, and L2/L3 path selection
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Experience working in large-scale networking environments
