The Organisation

Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation responsible for the safe and efficient management of Australian airspace and provision of aviation rescue fire fighting services at Australia's busiest airports.

Our people are our greatest asset, with a dynamic and diverse team operating from locations across the country. Together, we help secure the future of Australia's skies and keep them amongst the safest in the world.

We connect people with their world safely - linking family and friends, generating economic activity, creating jobs, and facilitating trade and tourism.

Airservices is committed to fostering a culture that is diverse, inclusive and respectful. We encourage motivated individuals who love what they do, value a service-first mindset and embrace a challenge to explore a career with Airservices. In return, you will be a valued team member, be offered flexibility and experience a meaningful career in an exciting, ever-evolving aviation industry.

The Role & The Team

The Needs & Pipeline Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping Airservices' long-term investment outlook, leading the development and maintenance of the enterprise needs and pipeline function.

Working across a diverse range of portfolios and business areas, you will consolidate future investment requirements, identify strategic priorities, analyse trends and funding implications, and provide an enterprise-wide view of investment demand to support executive decision-making.

This role sits at the front end of the investment lifecycle, partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to understand future needs, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities and risks, and help shape the long-term investment pipeline. You will support development of the Asset & Services Plan and provide insight into future investment demand, strategic priorities and funding requirements.

A key aspect of the role is transforming complex planning, financial and portfolio information into clear, concise and compelling executive-level insights. You will develop high-quality reports, presentations and strategic narratives that help leaders understand the investment landscape, evaluate priorities and make informed decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Capital Portfolio Management, you will work closely with senior leaders, portfolio owners, finance and strategy teams to deliver a connected enterprise view of future investment needs.

People enjoy working in this team because of the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide outcomes, work with senior stakeholders and contribute to the long-term future of a nationally significant infrastructure organisation.

You are a strategic and commercially minded professional who enjoys bringing together complex information, identifying insights and building a compelling narrative from data. You are equally comfortable working through detailed analysis in Excel as you are preparing executive presentations and engaging senior stakeholders on future investment priorities.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic asset planning, enterprise planning, capital planning, investment planning, infrastructure strategy, corporate planning or a similar planning environment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining long-term investment, capital, forecasting or planning pipelines within a complex organisation.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret investment, portfolio and funding information and translate it into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level reporting, presentations, briefing papers and strategic recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Advanced analytical capability, including working with large and complex datasets to identify trends, priorities, risks and opportunities.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to independently develop high-quality analysis, reports and executive presentations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple business units and leadership groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex planning, portfolio and investment data into compelling executive narratives that support decision-making.
  • Strong strategic thinking capability, with the ability to bring together competing priorities and develop a whole-of-enterprise perspective.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, finance, economics, engineering, infrastructure, asset management or a related discipline.

At Airservices Australia, we embrace and thrive on diversity of thought, perspectives and capabilities because we know the benefits of having a workforce that is representative of the community we serve. We appreciate everyone is unique, and acknowledge diversity in thought leads to greater transparency and improved consideration in our decision making.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success. We actively encourage and welcome candidates from all cultural backgrounds, gender identities, people living with disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply.

Security Clearance

To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident as an Airservices background check is required for this role. Please refer to the security check requirements successful applicants will be required to undertake as part of the recruitment process.
