Job summary

Serco in Australia is seeking a Navigation Instructor to mentor and develop Royal Australian Navy Surface Warfare Officers. You will deliver advanced navigation instruction, support classroom and bridge simulation training, and contribute to Navy courseware development and capability improvements.

The role leverages recent operational Navy experience, with opportunities to collaborate across Navy and Serco stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Intermediate Navigating Officer aboard a Patrol Vessel.
• Completion of the Intermediate Navigation Course or equivalent Commonwealth qualification.
• Approximately 12 months' experience in one of these operational appointments within the last five years.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced Navigation instruction.
• Mentor and assess Junior Warfare Officers throughout their training.
• Deliver training across classroom and bridge simulation environments.
• Contribute to course development and continuous improvement.
• Maintain contemporary knowledge of Navy tactics, techniques and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with Navy and Serco stakeholders to maintain high training standards.
• Participate in rostered training activities where required.
