Austspray Environmental Weed Control Pty Ltd invites applications for Natural Areas Team Members to join our crews across the Gold Coast and South East Queensland. This is hands-on outdoor work focused on restoration, weed control and habitat enhancement.
You'll start early, work in small crews, and visit diverse sites from coastal bushland to waterways, helping restore environments while learning practical conservation skills and safe equipment handling. A passion for plants helps you thrive.
If you'd rather spend your working day restoring the outdoors than staring at it through a window, this could be your kind of job.
is looking for Natural Areas Team Members to join our crew working across the Gold Coast and South East Queensland. Already working in conservation, bush regeneration or natural areas? Great.
Studying conservation, horticulture or something similar and looking for practical experience? We'd love to hear from you too. Or perhaps you're simply ready for a career change and know you'd be far happier working outdoors, around plants and the environment, than sitting behind a desk all day.
Your day starts early at our Stapylton base, between 5-6am, depending on the season, weather and workload. Working in crews of two or more, you'll load up the vehicles, machinery, equipment and chemicals before heading out to site.
Unlike landscape maintenance, you may spend days or even weeks transforming one area. The work could include:
The scale varies enormously. One project might involve improving a pocket of bushland alongside a pathway; another could involve planting tens of thousands of native plants to restore habitat lost through development.
You'll work across council, development and environmental sites throughout South East Queensland, so the location, environment and work can change from one project to the next. The common thread? You're leaving the environment better than you found it.
Working in natural areas means working in nature, not the sanitised version of it. Depending on the location, you may encounter snakes, spiders, insects and other wildlife. You'll need to be comfortable working in these environments and following the appropriate safety procedures.
You'll also need to be comfortable using herbicides safely and responsibly. While we use different weed-control methods depending on the site, hand weeding isn't always practical or possible, so herbicide application is an important part of the job.
If either of those things makes you think "absolutely not", this probably isn't the role for you. If you're thinking "that's all part of working outdoors", keep reading.
Experience in natural area restoration, bush regeneration, conservation, horticulture, landscaping or weed control would be great, but it isn't the only way in.
You’ll need a current driver's licence and White Card. Qualifications or tickets in conservation, ACDC, First Aid, chainsaw operation or similar will definitely be looked on favourably.
You’ll join an established environmental business that provides training, development and a supportive team environment, while doing work where you can actually see the difference you’ve made.
