Job summary

My Heart Cardiology in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Chief Cardiac Sonographer to lead and grow our echo service across multiple sites. The role balances hands-on scanning three days a week with two days in leadership, teaching and service development.

You will supervise the sonography and device team, drive QA, accreditation readiness, and ensure Medicare compliance, while reporting directly to the Directors. Strong clinical leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• ASAR-accredited cardiac sonographer qualification.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities in a clinical setting.
• Experience supervising and training staff.
• Experience in quality assurance and accreditation preparation.
• Proficiency in advanced echocardiographic techniques such as 3D echo.

Responsibilities

• Leading, supervising and training our sonography and device team.
• Rostering, recruitment and performance management.
• Running the quality assurance program, including image and report quality audits.
• Developing and maintaining SOPs and imaging protocols.
• Preparing the service for accreditation and ensuring Medicare compliance.
• Managing cardiac diagnostic lists across sites with our practice manager.
• Acting as equipment and safety lead, including technical support, troubleshooting and coordinating purchasing.
