Job summary

DK Rentals & Repairs is expanding its roadside mechanical services and seeks a Motor Mechanic (Roadside). The role involves diagnosing on-site breakdowns, performing repairs, and providing emergency assistance, with relocation to Western Australia anticipated as operations grow.

A workshop may be established within months. Candidates should hold Certificate III/IV in automotive fields and have 1–3 years' relevant roadside experience, plus a current driver’s license and strong problem‑solving

Qualifications

Job description

DK Rentals & Repairs is a growing and professional operation specializing in roadside assistance and mechanical services. Following the successful award of a new contract in Western Australia, we are expanding our operations and seeking multiples skilled and reliable Motor Mechanics (Roadside) to join our Team. This role is NOT limited to Melbourne. Applicants must be willing to relocate to WA. Motor mechanic- Roadside work starts immediately. A workshop facility will be established within 3-6 months. Motor mechanic -Roadside can start work from home Motor mechanic - Roadside role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle breakdown issues on-site
• Perform jump starts, battery replacements, and minor mechanical repairs
• Conduct vehicle inspections and safety checks
• Assist customers in emergency roadside situations
• Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
• Provide professional advice on vehicle maintenance
• Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in good condition
• Carry out preventive maintenance (engine tune-ups, oil changes, tyre rotations, wheel balancing, filter replacements)
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
• Repair engine failures, replace components, and fix system malfunctions
• Dismantle and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering systems, and other components
• Tune engines using diagnostic and electronic equipment
• Maintain vehicle service records
• Manage workshop equipment and supplies
• Assist in stock control, ordering, and inventory management
• Comply with all state safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Communicate with customers to identify faults and provide solutions.

Skills & Experience Required

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
• OR Certificate IV in Automotive (in lieu of training)
• Minimum 1-3 years of relevant industry experience
• Strong knowledge of:
• Engine diagnostics and repairs (including replacements)
• Suspension systems
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding
• Experience in roadside or mobile service (highly desirable)
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic computer/Excel knowledge
• High level of punctuality, cleanliness, and professionalism

Licence & Work Requirements

• Current Driver's Licence
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
• Must be physically fit and capable of working in roadside conditions
