What's the role?

Reporting to the Digital Director, the Multimedia Editor is an essential, hands‑on role dedicated to driving the editorial video growth of Escape and the travel ecosystem.

Acting as the connective tissue between ideation and execution, you will work collaboratively with our Audience Editor, whilst guiding our Social Media Editor, and Video Editor to ensure our travel content comes to life dynamically across every digital screen.

This is an editorial-first, highly collaborative role for a creative storyteller who understands what makes video resonate with an audience. You are not just working behind a camera or editing in front of a screen; you are an editorial gatekeeper. You will be responsible for commissioning engaging video content from both in-house teams and external talent, reviewing all assets against brand priorities, and being incredibly smart and resourceful with how we utilise and package video assets to maximise every content capture opportunity across our platforms.

Key responsibilities:
  • Editorial Video Commissioning and Content Creation: Architecting and executing compelling, travel-focused video and mixed-media content. You will activate, brief, and collaborate with in-house editorial teams and talent to ensure we capture every visual opportunity, whilst personally creating original, high-value content designed to inform, entertain, and inspire our audience of travellers.

  • Quality & KPI Review: Reviewing and auditing incoming video content against performance benchmarks (views, watch time, retention), ensuring all output meets our editorial standards.

  • Resourceful Packaging & Distribution: Intelligently utilising and repurposing existing video resourcing. You will help package, frame, and optimise raw video assets into highly engaging social hooks tailored specifically for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and on-platform ecosystems.

  • Franchise Development: Collaborating with the team to brainstorm and execute recurring, episodic video formats that build audience loyalty and attract commercial interest.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with the Social Media Editor, Audience Editor, and Video Editor daily to ensure a unified, efficient approach to platform growth and content distribution.

Who are you?
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, within a fast-paced digital media, lifestyle publishing, or social agency environment, with a genuine passion for contemporary travel content. Ideally, you will have managed video producers/editors and video production workflows prior to this.

  • Editorial Insight: You have a sharp eye for what makes a great story. You know how to take written travel guides or feature articles and translate them into visual storyboards that capture immediate attention. You also can see when an idea is best suited for video or a mixed-media execution, instead of thinking every story must start with a written execution.

  • Maximising Content Capture: You have a proactive mindset. When content is being produced, whether by an editor on a trip or an in-house shoot, you know how to build a shot list to ensure we walk away with the maximum amount of usable, multi-platform video assets.

  • Hands-On & Resourceful: You are highly creative with a knack for pulling maximum value out of video and media assets. You know how to quickly cut, repackage, and optimise video for different aspect ratios and platform behaviours using tools like CapCut or Premiere Pro. You know at times you will be editing and producing video, while at other times you will be delegating tasks to our social media editor and video editor.

  • Commercially Minded: You understand how to naturally weave brand partnerships and commercial opportunities into video formats without compromising editorial integrity.

  • Team Player: You thrive in an agile, shared-resource environment and love brainstorming and working daily with other digital editors to hit collective brand goals.
