Job summary

McDermott Aviation is seeking an organised Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team in Cooroy, Queensland. This hands-on role covers supplier invoices, payments, reconciliations and multi-currency transactions to keep financial processes accurate and efficient.

The ideal candidate has accounting or bookkeeping experience, aims to further professional qualifications, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and basic formulas.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred but not essential.
• A professional, discreet approach when handling confidential information.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify supplier invoices, including matching invoices to purchase orders.
• Prepare weekly supplier payment runs and remittances.
• Process transactions across multiple currencies.
• Complete credit card and supplier statement reconciliations.
• Record financial transactions and journal entries in the general ledger.
• Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including prepayments and accruals.
• Maintain accurate, confidential and organised financial records.
• Liaise with internal departments, clients and suppliers to resolve billing and payment queries.
• Provide general administrative and financial support to the Finance team as required.
