Job summary

Jio Tech Auto is seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic to join the team on a full-time basis in Australia. You will diagnose, maintain and repair light motor vehicles, ensuring high safety and quality standards are met.

The role requires a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. You will work with petrol engines and electrical systems, using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment, in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

Job Description

JIOTECH AUTO MECHANIC About the Role Jio Tech Auto is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join its team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Detect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in vehicle engines and associated components. Inspect and test vehicles using computerised diagnostic equipment and other specialised testing tools to identify faults and determine appropriate repairs. Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components for inspection and repair.

Examine mechanical components to identify worn, damaged or defective parts requiring repair or replacement. Repair and replace defective or worn components and reassemble engines and other mechanical parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals. Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance, including engine oil and filter changes, lubrication, tune-ups and other routine servicing.

Inspect, maintain and repair vehicle braking, suspension, steering, transmission and related mechanical systems. Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to ensure correct operation, performance and safety. Conduct engine tune-ups and adjustments to improve vehicle performance, reliability and fuel efficiency and assist with compliance with applicable emission requirements.

Carry out final inspections and road testing, where appropriate, to confirm that repairs have been completed correctly and vehicles are operating safely. Identify additional repair or maintenance requirements and accurately document work performed. Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.

Skills and Requirements

Relevant automotive trade qualification, such as a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent relevant qualification. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working as a Motor Mechanic or in a closely related automotive mechanical role. Strong knowledge of petrol engines and vehicle mechanical systems, including transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.

Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately. Experience using computerised automotive diagnostic tools and workshop equipment. Ability to dismantle, repair, replace, reassemble, test and adjust vehicle mechanical components.

Sound understanding of scheduled servicing and preventative vehicle maintenance. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical information, manufacturer specifications and service manuals.

Commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a workshop team. Valid Australian Driver’s Licence or ability to obtain/hold the appropriate licence.
